Job description
Being part of the operations team, the long-hole driller has to drill with a specialized drill to blast or install specific ground support.
Main tasks
- Respect safety standards at all times;
- Check the ground registers at the initiation point;
- Inspect his work environment at the beginning and the end of the shift;
- Use and complete his work card throughout the shift;
- Complete the inspection and maintenance card for the drill;
- Read and understand plans and specifications;
- Scale his place of work before the start of his shift;
- Check the barricades and the inventory at the piercing points;
- Position the drill according to plans and specifications;
- Operate the drill;
- Handle drill rods;
- Inspect the machinery at the end of the shift so that it is operational for the next shift;
- Complete the daily report at the end of the shift;
- Respect the safety standards at all times;
- Any other related tasks.
Requirements
- Have a high school diploma or other equivalent degree;
- Underground hard rock common core in Ontario;
- Hold a valid explosive license;
- Fluent in English is required.
